4K Circus
Step right up and enjoy the greatest circus ever performed by pre-school students! The 4K Circus is coming to St. Cyprian’s Episcopal School gym on Thursday, February 18th at 8:30 a.m. The circus has been a major production at St. Cyprian’s School since 1962. The students perform a variety of feats from crawling through the “fire” rings to walking on “stilts”. You won’t want to miss the Grand Entry Parade made up of decorated bicycles and other ride-on toys.
The circus is presented each year in memory of Max Wortham, a longtime St. Cyprian’s board member who actually grew up in the circus. His family owned a circus that traveled the country and wintered in San Antonio. Wortham went to military school, graduated from Rice University, then settled in Lufkin where he owned a sawmill on the site now occupied by Sam’s Warehouse. When Wortham died in 1990, his friend and fellow school board member, Marcelle Canon, designated some of the memorial donations be used to purchase circus books for the St. Cyprian’s School library.
The mission of St. Cyprian’s is to be a community of learners where students are challenged to achieve their highest academic, spiritual and physical potentials in a Christian setting. To find out more about the program of St. Cyprian’s, log on to: http://www.saintcyprians.org.
