Meet Friar Tuck
The Reverend Douglas J. Tucker, also know as “Friar Tuck,” has been the Rector of St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church and School for the past three years. During his 27 years in ministry, Doug has served as a college chaplain in Sewanee, Tennessee and as a priest in churches in League City, Nacogdoches, Waco and Houston.
He is an Iowa native, attended the University of Nebraska on a football scholarship and was a quarterback on three bowl teams. Doug was a Captain in the Air Force for five years and an F.B.I. Agent for seven years. He then took his wife and three children to seminary at The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.
Doug has been married to Cheryl for 39 years they have 3 married children and 8 grandchildren.
Doug has a B.S. from Nebraska, a Masters in criminology from George Washington University and a Master of Divinity from Sewanee.
“Friar Tuck,” as he is known to the students, has a gift for keeping the children’s attention during our weekly “all school” chapel service and is a great supporter of the school.
