Meet the Rector of St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church

The Rev. Arthur A. (Art) Callaham is the 9th rector of St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church.  A native of western Maryland, Art holds degrees in Engineering Mechanics and Sociology from Virginia Tech and studied Divinity at the University of Chicago.  Before discerning the call to the priesthood, he served as a Math teacher and football coach at St. James School near Hagerstown, MD.

Father Art and his wife, Erica moved to Lufkin in 2009 from Baltimore.  Their daughter, Hannah, was born in the summer 2010.

Fr. Art’s Theology of school ministry is deeply rooted in the Incarnation.  When Christ took human form, he did more than simply pave the way for our personal salvation.  He sanctified all of human life, tearing down the boundaries between the “life of faith” and the rest of life.  God is interested in everything we do and everything we do reflects our relationship with God.  The unique ministry of Episcopal Schools is our ability not only to bring God into the classroom, but our desire to bring the classroom to God.
